However like other alcoholic beverages in can be misused or abused and thus as a consequence result in some horrible situations. Be responsible and drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive. Don't let friends drive drunk. Take your turn and be the designated driver. Know you limit.
The chart below is provided as showing the approximate number of drinks consumed in one hour that will raise a person’s blood-alcohol content to 0.08%. Alcohol affects individuals differently. Your blood alcohol level may be affected by your age, gender, physical condition, amount of food consumed and any drugs or medication. In addition, different drinks may contain different amounts of alcohol, so it's important to know how much and the concentration of alcohol you consume.
Have a designated driver. Don’t drink and drive. Take a cab. Hey it’s your turn to be the designated driver – have an alcohol-free beer!

* A drink consists of either one shot of 40% alcohol, (1.5 ounces of 80 proof liquor), a 12-ounce beer or 4.5 ounces of wine. A persons stomach is considered empty if he or she has not eaten for six hours. Your body can get rid of basically one drink per hour.
Your Blood Alcohol Level
Use the charts below to estimate you Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) / Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC). This is a generalized chart based on a person who is metabolizing (or breaking down) one drink an hour. For example if you are a 120 lb. female drinking seven drinks in one hour, your BAL is a .30%.This chart is a good general guideline, every individual reacts differently to alcohol. The chart doesn't take into account your individual body composition, your use of medication, your mood changes, or your personal metabolism rate. Therefore, your blood alcohol level may in fact be slightly higher or slightly lower than the chart indicates for the number of drinks you consume. As you can see, the faster you drink, the higher your blood alcohol level will be - Slow down and enjoy the brew!
When drinking, consider that each of the following drinks contain the same amount of alcohol. 1oz. shot of wiskey = 5 oz. glass of wine = 12 oz. glass of beer.
08 - .10 blood alcohol level is considered legally drunk.
Most states practice zero-tolerance laws, meaning if you are under 21 any alcohol in your system is against the law.
Keep in mind that your body processes alcohol at a constant rate of .5 oz. per hour, regardless of how many ounces you consume.
To Calculate Your BAC Over A Longer Period Of Time:
1. Add the total amount of drinks consumed.
2. From that total, subtract 1 drink for each hour of drinking. In other words, your body will burn off 1 drink per hour.
